FAQ

What is the cost of admission for uchi-con?

Admission is free for UChi-Con! This gives you access to most of the convention, though certain things such as the Artist Alley and Café will still require cash.

When is Registration?

We have two options for registration:

  • You can pre-register for the convention on our Registration typically starting from around three months to a month before the convention (the exact details are announced on our Facebook page every year). If you pre-register, you will still need to come to Ida Noyes to get your badge, but the line generally moves much faster than the main day-of registration line.

  • You can also register on the day itself! You don’t need to prepare anything for this, just arrive at Ida Noyes from 10am onwards and you will get a wristband on the spot after filling out a form.

When does uchi-con open/close?

Day-of registration for the convention opens at 10am, and activities will last until 6pm.

Does uchi-con accept credit/Venmo?

While certain artists or external vendors may accept credit, we cannot guarantee that this will be the case. The Café will accept Venmo but not credit cards. We strongly recommend bringing cash if you plan to spend money at the convention.

Is the convention wheelchair ACCESSIBLE?

Yes it is! Both Ida Noyes Hall and Harper Memorial Library have wheelchair accessible ramps, elevators, and accessible bathroom stalls. Maps of Ida Noyes Hall and Harper Memorial Library detailing accessible routes are available online.

How can I get a table to sell my art in the artist alley?

Check out our Artist Alley page! Once Artist Alley signups are opened on our Facebook page, the button on this page will lead you to a google form where you can apply for a table. Specific details may vary from year to year, but successful or waitlisted applicants should receive an email from us on the specified dates.

How can I run a panel at Uchi-con?

Check out the form on the Panels page. If we approve of your panel and can fit it into the schedule, we will email you soon after to assign you a timeslot and confirm that you can host the panel at that time.

How can I change the information on a form I already submitted?

If you've submitted a form and later want to change any of the details, send us a quick email and we’ll update things for you.

What are some nice locations around the convention to take photos?

The UChicago campus is generally very pretty, but here is a list of the more popular locations to take photos on campus. Most of the buildings will NOT be open to the public, so we advise you not to try entering any buildings that are not Harper or Ida Noyes.

How can I perform at UChi-Con?

You can fill out the form here if you wish to do a performance at UChi-Con! If we approve your performance we’ll try fitting you into the schedule. Performance slots are typically 30-60 minutes in length, including set-up and take-down. We require you to provide your own audio if you wish to have it.
